These boys write and record down home, shit-kickin', back woods Appalachian music that rocks, twangs and doesn't sound hokey- but remains traditional. "Volunteer" is the back yard barbecue hootenanny album of the year. Its a sing-along, happy blast. Hard not to kick it up and have a smile while this one is rolling. It stumbles just a bit at the end, but that first side. Glad that Old Crow won't be remembered as the group that gave Darius Rucker his biggest hit. Get the spoons out and play along.
