Every year I come across releases from artists/bands, who I am a fan of, that I am excited to get my hands on, that unfortunately in the end leave me cold and disappointed. This year had more than usual, which saddens me. I haven't quit on these artists/bands, and I will await their next efforts, but this time around they just didn't resonate- in my humble opinion of course. I have included a link for you to investigate yourself and formulate your own opinion.

Eric Bachmann - "No Recover". My #1 two years ago, this effort put me to sleep.

Okkerville River - "In the Rainbow Rain". Feels self serving with little to pull you in.

Atmosphere - "Mi Vidi Local". Been there, done that but better before.

The Men - "Drift". Their noisy, messy sound without the expected, desired hooks.

Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club- "Wrong Creatures". Channeling their inner goth era Cure with songs that really don't go anywhere.

Whitey Morgan - "Hard Times & White Lines". His shit-kicking edge is sanded down and non-existent.

Alkaline Trio - "Is This Thing Cursed?". Sounds like songs an hook that have been released before.

Ron Gallo - "Really Nice Guys" / "Stardust Birthday Party". Just meanderings. He might have peaked on "Heavy Meta".

Adam's Cat- "Town Burned Down". Worthy for its Drive By Trucker historical value only.

Rhett Miller- "The Messenger". After the last two exceptional Old 97s releases, this feels dull devoid of the fun.
